I'm off to Florida for my last vacation and break for the next four months. I'm going to be in hell in the upcoming months with my graduate classes and teaching at the same time.

The "Duh" moment of the day!

Kill Bill Vol. 1 is an awesome movie. I picked up the soundtrack today. Good stuff. I especially like "The Lonely Shepherd" by James Last and Gheorghe Zamfir. There's a song on here that's been popularized by a TV Commercial (brand escapes me). It's "Woo Hoo" by The 5.6.7.8's.

Now it's a fun song...nothing to write home about. I did want to listen to more of their music and see what else they have to offer so I checked around and found this.

This strikes me as a little asinine but who am I to judge. If you need the lyrics, to "Woo Hoo" then there are other things we should be worried about.

Returning from Richmond...

I have these bumper stickers on my car:

So I'm driving back from Richmond on 95 and I'm doing about 70. I pass a white car on my right side around the Stafford exit and think nothing of it. Going with the flow of traffic, I continue in the far left lane and concentrate on the road and a couple of cars that are merging from the right.

About 2-3 miles down the road, I see the same white car in the center lane. I'm about to go into the center lane because there is a car that is going to go faster than me but the white car has sped up to at least 85-90 mph.

I expect the white car to go blasting by me but he pulls even with me and shows me a handwritten sign saying "I hate liberals". He makes a point of holding this sign up and keeping the same speed with me for about another half mile. While doing this, he is pointing to the sign and mouthing the words "I hate you." (By the way, he does have 2 passengers in the car with one in the back...so that person could have held the sign.)

The first thing I think of is that I wish I had my camera ready because my girlfriend could've taken an awesome picture of the dumbass. But the second thing I thought of was to give him the "I don't care" reaction by putting up my hands and shrugging my shoulders.

The fact is I don't care. The only reason I'm posting it is because it's a decent story. I don't know what the guy was thinking. Did he really think that I was going to look at his sign, slap my forehead and say "I've been wrong all along. Liberals are bad."

He did endanger the other drivers on the road...that made me angry. What kind of person takes a risk that puts other people in jeopardy just to tell me he hates me? An irrational person? I think so.

I know that this guy is not all conservatives and I would never make an assertion like that. I have plenty of conservative friends that know my politics and don't think that I'm such a bad guy. I just chalk it up to the fact that this anonymous conservative felt that he needed to make a point to someone that has already made up his mind on his ideology. What a waste of time and energy!

It's been a month...where have I been?

Well it's my first post in over a month but I feel I'm ready for it. So where have I been over the last month?

Well...I went to Deleware to visit my dad and to see one of my favorite bands Carbon Leaf. This is my first time using images so I'm sorry if they are screwed up somewhere in the text.

I've been helping Del. Steve Shannon's campaign off and on the last few weeks. He's been an effective delegate for the last two years and is well liked by his constituents. There's no doubt in my mind that we're going to get him elected again.

I also did a little training for my local education association, the FEA. I'm trying to double membership in my school this year as one of the building representatives. I spent three days in Richmond with teachers from all around the state. It actually gave me insight on the disparities between the pay and funding given to smaller school systems. To me, it highlighted the absurdity of No Child Left Behind. But that's another blog for another day.

I also just got back from a trip to San Francisco where the Young Democrats of America just had their conference. I will write more about this later. Let me say that my first conference was a memorable one. There was high drama during the election of officers. Like I said, I'll write more later and I will include other blogs where I found some interesting insight on the convention.

Hope all is well with everyone...and I hope you continue to read.
